It is HOT here
in Virginia... Sweltering!
First, a bit more Americana
AMERICA
This guy is ready and waiting for a fun 4th of July!
He is made of cotton batting, painted and aged.
Stitched nose and mouth, seed bead eyes, sisal
whiskers, a two tone blue homespun scarf and
a wool felt crown. He is holding a tiny handmade
pin wheel in patriotic colors.
All is nestled in a tin can, covered in patriotic
paper and stuffed all around with Spanish moss.
It is embellished with a handmade Americana
rosette made of blue and red crepe
paper and a paper medallion that reads
AMERICA.
In his other hand he is holding a little handmade bag
made from an old feed sack fabric that has been
painted red with a white star, sanded, and aged.
It is stuffed with dried lilly of the valley, a bit of
greenery and 3 tiny handmade firecrackers.
The entire piece is 7 1/2" tall and appox 5" wide
at widest point
